✍🏽 Divine Lyamu Signs 1st Team Forms
On Friday, last season’s Under 16’s top goalscorer Divine Lyamu put pen to paper as he takes his first steps into men’s football. The recently turned 16- year-old netted goals in appearances in his debut campaign, helping his team to the League & Cup double.
After finishing in the top 3 of players at the Mango Football UPA day in June, the 6ft 2in centre forward was invited to the trip to Lisbon last month where his performances and stature caught the eye of the 1st Team bosses. Daryll Thomas commented:
“We are very pleased to announce the promotion to the 1st team squad for Divine Lyamu from our U18s squad.”
“It’s no secret that bringing the younger lads through is something me and Bally have a real passion for which is the main reason we went over to Lisbon last month just to see and be around the lads away from training and matches to learn more about their personalities etc and Divine was someone who stood out to us.”
“At 16 I think he is probably 6”2ish, strong, quick and has scored a lot of goals at the junior level - me being a striker I see such a raw but promising striker that can be a massive asset to the first team squad for years to come. He has trained with us the last 2 weeks and you can see him growing in confidence with every session and with the likes of OC & Tyler Blake he’s got two of the best to watch and learn from. Moving forward for this season certainly D will be dual registered with FC Sez to go and get some men’s football experience which we believe is key for his development but he will definitely be involved with the 1st team throughout this season as well.”
